Why Multi-Provider Support?

With the introduction of Multi-Provider Support, RewriteBar offers more flexibility. Whether you're looking for the fastest response times, the most cost-effective solutions, or specific AI capabilities, you can now select the provider that best fits your requirements.

  • Local AI Models: You can now use local AI models like Ollama.
  • OpenAI Compatible Providers: Access providers like Groq, Anthropic, and more.
  • RewriteBar AI: Use our AI without needing an API key. Requires a subscription.
  • Multiple API Keys: Manage different API keys for the same provider, perfect for separating personal and professional use.
  • Custom Provider Selection: Choose a default provider for all commands or select a provider for each command. This allows you to use a more powerful provider for complex tasks and a more cost-effective one for simpler tasks.
  • Model Customization: Set default models for each provider and specify a model for each command.

How to setup a new provider

  1. Navigate to the settings and select your desired provider.
  2. Enter your API key if necessary.
  3. Click "Refresh" to update the list of models.
  4. Select a default model for the provider.
  5. Hit "Verify and Enable" to start using the provider.

How to Use Providers

You have to option to use a default provider.

  • Choose a default provider for all commands.
  • Go to the command settings and select a provider for each command.

Available Providers

  • RewriteBar AI: Provides easy access to a set of models without needing an API key. Requires a subscription.
  • OpenAI: Known for GPT-4o. You can also use a organization api key.
  • Anthropic: Known for Claude 3.5 Haiku.
  • Groq: Known for speed together with Llama 3.1.
  • OpenRouter: Access multiple providers like Anthropic, Groq, Together, Llama, and more.
  • Together: Includes providers like Anthropic, Groq, Llama, and more.
  • Llama: Use local models such as Llama 3, Llama 3.1, and more.
  • Mistral: Use Mistral 7B and Mistral 7B Instruct.
  • xAI: Use models like Grok.
  • OpenAI Compatible: Use any OpenAI compatible api. Tested with Cerebras.ai.

Additional Improvements

I've also optimized RewriteBar's battery usage. The app now conserves energy when running in the background, ensuring it doesn't drain your device's resources.

I've added more models if you are using RewriteBar AI. And you can now use Pro models like GPT-4o and Claude 3.5 Haiku.

What's Next?

I'm working on a PopClip integration for Rewritebar as this is a most requested feature on the Features Board.
